Sailing out of NYC

We are on Carnival sailing from Manhatten pier - which side of the ship do we need to be on for the best views.

What's better to sail past - Statue of Liberty or Manhatten skyline???? We want to be on our balcony - sipping on something when we sail :o)

Both Jenn! I've not sailed out of NYC but we sailed out of Brooklyn and really loved all of it!

Jenn - Sailing out of NY the skyline will be on your port side and the Statue of Liberty will be on the starboard side.

So what we really need to do is get friendly (really quick) with someone on the same deck as us but on the opposite side.

Then run back and forth so we can do both sides at once lol.

Definitely find a view to look back at the city as you leave. It's an awesome site. As someone who lived there for 30 years I never understood how beautiful it was until we saw her from the water.

Rose - I felt the same way about Vancouver - the city looks so beautiful sailing out and, having grown up looking at the north shore mountains, I took it all for granted.

Having had the pleasure of sailing our of Vancouver a few times I have to agree that it's gorgeous. I'm hoping to get back there summer 2012 on my way to Alaska.

i assume you are doing NE/Canada or Bermuda, correct? We did the former and I really don't remember what side we were o as we were up top for departure. The skyline is amazing and if you get a chance stay a few days pre or post cruise in the big apple. its well worth it. Have a grat time. Larry :biggrin:
