Panda
In your experience, does Royal Caribbean cater to a certain group of cruisers? Is there a typical age range or class of passenger, or do they tend to have a good mix of everyone?
DebbieandJerry
We've been on one RC cruise and that was to the Pacific Northwest out of Seattle. It was a 5-day cruise that did not have many children/families. I think the nature of the cruise, the location and the length of time truly dictated the "mix". We have cruised to Hawaii twice. Both times we have met up with RC passengers. A HUGE mix of folks each time. Interestingly: the second cruise was 16 days long. There were only a handful of couples in their 40's to 50's (and we were one of them!) The dealer at the casino told us that longer cruises tend to not attract families. We have cruised to the Caribbean countless times. Again, we see all types of ships and all types of passenger mixes. I would guess that it depends on where you are going, time of year, length of cruise and cost.
sailingrose
I think it's a wide variety of ages. We have sailed with my parents 70's and 80's, our kids when they were little and now that they are young adults. Something for everyone. rogue
My experience on RCCL is that they do not cater to any particular group. The cruisers on all of our RCCL cruises have been as diverse as any cruise we have been on.
Panda
Thank you for the responses. I like having a mix on the cruises but have ended up on a couple that were weighed heavily on one end of the age spectrum, which wasn't as fun. I enjoy getting to know people of all ages and I'm not exactly a college kid anymore myself.
DebbieandJerry
I guess I have never really experienced a "one age" mix on a cruise. We've cruised Valentine's weekend; spring break a number of times; thanksgiving a number of times; right before Xmas, right after Labor Day and a slew of fall break (October) cruises. Lots of different ships and places. Great mix of folks. I agree that a great mix makes a great vacation.
coloradocruisers
Maybe not so much an age group, but they do seem to have more activities on-board. If you like variety and lots of activity, RCCL's a good choice.
LynnS13
We were on a 9-day RCI cruise and I found there to be a nice mix. My son and neice were teens and had a blast and I did not feel that the ship was overrun by kids. This was a cruise when the kids were still in school....I do believe the summer months would be busier! We went on Carnival in June and DEFINATELY more kids!!! I don't know if it was the time of the year, or that Carnival seems to be a better deal and more affordable for families?? We have another cruise planned for March 2012 again and I can't wait....:) Lynn
ametrinel
I've been on RCCL to Mexico and the Caribbean. There seems to be a wide variety of ages. Part of it depends on what time of year you go - summer, etc. Obviously, in summer there will be more kids, which is why we tend to go during shoulder season!
