DebbieandJerry
The first time we cruised and the sensations that engulfed us were so different than each one thereafter. Any one care to share their thoughts?
DebbieandJerry
Our first cruise was a 4-day out of LA on a much smaller NCL vessel. I remember being amazed that the room steward knew our schedule; that the waiters remembered what we liked and didn't like; that the casino dealer remembered our names. Those little things are what made both of us fall in love with cruising.
jacketwatch
It was July of 2002 to the western Med. out of Barcelona. What I recall the most is waking up on day one after embarkation and wondering where we were so looked outside the window only to see we were still at Sea. Didn't even feel the motion. It was the 1st and only time we did not have a balcony cabin BTW. it was on the RCI ship Splendour of the seas. cruisetarp
My first cruise was in July 1964 on the Home Lines Homeric. I went with my 2 best friends from high school and the one thing we still laugh about is there was 1 key to your room - when you left your room you hung your key on a large board in the hall - thereby letting your room steward know that your cabin was ready to be cleaned. Can you imagine leaving your key out for anyone passing by now? We went to Nassau and I remember walking around in a very small town (after tendering to shore) and hearing all about the huge plans they had for Paradise Island which at the time had absolutely nothing on it. Now it is the site of Atlantis hotel.
jobowl
Wow our first cruise was back in 1999. We were on the Sovereign of the Seas. We could not believe how large the ship was. Than we were hooked for life on cruising. It was four days we weren't sure we would like it so we wanted a short cruise.
sailingrose
Our first cruise wasour honeymoon on Chandris Cruise lines (now Celebrity) Victoria. The year was 1984. It left from San Juan and was the only ship to leave on a Monday. It was all Howie's idea so I blame him for my love of the sea. We went to St. Thomas, Venezuela, Curacao and St. Vincent because the Grenadas were having a civil war so they added in St. Vincent. I remember it being a very elegant affair. Everyone dressed for dinner each night. There were wine stewards back then that really knew their stuff (but I didn't LOL) . I wish I had a picture of the stateroom, it was large in comparison to today's standards and the bathroom was huge!!!!!
