Curacao anyone?

Went to the cruise ship to see what they recommend at Curacao and wasn't impressed. I'm looking at a couple of ships that stop here. Anyone have any input?

Debbie, we loved Curacao. Just the prettiness of the town with the rows of multi colored buildings was gorgeous. We walked into town and had lunch at a suer restaurant under a HUGE umbrella tree (can't remember the name of the restaurant). We also took a tour to the Curacao factory ..... it tastes like medicine to me .... yuck - but the tour at least showed us some of the island. Like Aruba, it's pretty desolate.

Like most islands...desolate....i wonder what would happen if there were no tourism for some of these islands...????

Curaçao was a very nice island. The town that you dock in is beautiful. Cindy loved the chocolate licquer at the Curaçao factory. There are beautiful beaches aplenty. We would go back there anytime.

Mr Rogue, was the chocolate licquer very heavy tasting? Was it creamy ?

It wasn't too creamy, but not real heavy. It wasn't like a kahlua. It was a bit stronger.

I would return to this island in a heartbeat. Definitely heavy on the shopping and the high end stores. But the architecture is amazing. We had a great time just walking around.

It will be our first time in Curacao this Fall. Anyone have anything new to add to what to do or see? Or buy?

We’ve only been to Curacao once and it was way back in 2005. We did an island tour excursion through the ship that was fine overall. One stop did feel like it was the driver’s cousin’s souvenir shop but everything else was nice. Of course Curacao is famous for its orange flavored liquor – often, but not always, blue colored – and there are samples aplenty! Next time we’ll probably just explore the port on our own – the buildings look great and the rotating bridge is very cool!
