DebbieandJerry
A couple of cruises stop in Aruba. I know they boast their beaches. For those who went on the Connie, any suggestions?
cruzer27
I wish Aruba was included in more cruise itineraries, I find it hard to find a cruise that sails here. Hope to cruise there one day
coloradocruisers
Debbie, I wasn't on the Connie, but Eagle Beach is very nice. We just hired a taxi driver and went; no excursion.
cruisetarp
We took a private tour around the Island and saw several beautiul beaches but didn't stop at any of them. Maybe next time.
rogue
We also toured the island, but did not have a beach stop. It is really a beautiful island with lots of nice beeches.
DebbieandJerry
Excellent all around. Thanks for the input. There are a number of sailings/ships that Jerry and I need to look at. ALL of them include Aruba.

DebbieandJerry
We ended up taking their city bus ($5 total for both of us round trip) to the very end of the bus stop. Went to the Marriott hotel and sat on their beach, walked around like we belonged there. Visited with the folks staying there. Took the city bus back to downtown and went to the downtown casino. A lot of the cruisers stopped at a beach mid-way on the bus ride and said they had a blast. The beach was very family oriented and had lots of "toys" to rent, etc. Perhaps we'll tackle that one next time. We did not know it, but the resort casinos away from downtown do not open their tables until 2pm. So that is why we headed back downtown so early. Jerry needed his casino fix (didn't get but one day on the ship. Didn't like the ship's casino at all.)
jhindley
I enjoyed taking the ship-sponsored cat sail up to the beach and back. I'm not much of a beach person but enjoyed a couple of hours there. Probably the nicest or second best beach I've ever seen (Eagle I believe, but it's close to Palm so I get them confused). Next time (this Jan.) will probably take a cab to the beach, just for a change. Back by the ship there is quite good shopping but I find Curacao more interesting in it's shopping district and for a place to just wander around (casinos in both).
