cruisetarp
If you choose a large table at dinner have you ever had tablemates that made you dread dinner time? On one of our first cruises we had a couple and the man was the most abusive foul talking person I ever met. On day 3 or 4 he had such a fight with his wife and then the waiter when he tried to quiet things down that he was removed from the dining room. We never saw the 2 of them again for the rest of the cruise. Other than that 1 time we have met some lovely people at dinner and kept in touch with a number of them over the years. DebbieandJerry
Howard, thanks for the chuckle. We haven't experienced it at our table, but certainly in the cluster that our waiter/bus server was working. One man was extremely demanding. Our only hope was that he paid in tips for his demands. Most probably NOT.
KeithnRita
We've been lucky so far, no really bad table mates. Only a few we didn't particularly care for.

jacketwatch
Fortunately no. Our 1st cruise found us with a bit of an odd ball however. He was sort of crabby and unfortunately gave the waiter a hard time about little things like not having a stack of napkins at the table like he preferred. He graciously complied with everything that was asked of him. Of course this guy had his luggage lost by the airline and had to wear tux pants provided by RCI and Nikes all week so I suppose that he had reason to be upset
jobowl
no we have been lucky I guess. I always try and get a large table or a table for 2. The large table thinking is when you get a table for 4 you can be stuck with a couple you really don't want to be with but a larger table the chance of being with at least one nice couple increases. We had an odd couple a our dining table, once.. she was a wonderful person, he, on the other hand was a bragger, and ddin't understand a lot of what he was saying, but he was very rude, complained about the food & then would get up & go to the buffet & get stuff (like cheese) and bring it back to the table and continue to complain all throughout dinner hen in the middle would order something different because he didn't like the first thing... Then after dinner he would brag about his business, something to do with candy machines???? Was a lllooonnngg cruise....
