DebbieandJerry
The U.S. Coast Guard has called off a weekend search for a 20-year-old male who disappeared from a cruise ship in Alaska.Blake Kepley, of Fallbrook, Calif., went missing on Friday from Holland America's Oosterdam, according to a press release issued by the federal agency. The Coast Guard says Kepley was reported missing by family members on Friday when he did not arrive to exit from the cruise ship in Ketchikan, Alaska as scheduled. Holland America told the Coast Guard that Kepley had possibly gone overboard early Friday while the ship was moving from Sitka to Ketchikan. The Coast Guard searched 352 miles of water with helicopters and boats. "Suspending a case is one of the hardest decisions that we as search and rescuers have to make and our thoughts and prayers are with the family," Coast Guard Petty Officer 1st Class Lindsey Kirby says in a statement. "While we have suspended active searching, we encourage anyone who sees anything while transiting though the area to call the Coast Guard."
