jacketwatch
A gal I work with tooke her BB to Mexico and incurred a ton of charges in roaming for the database. Her bill was like $300.00 more than normal. I have a BB so i went to the Verizon store where I bought it and checked it out. They told me the same thing, that if you are abroad the roaming charges for the database www are huge. So what you can do is call them and you can get a free phone for use abroad. Just swap out the SIM card in yours and you are all set. You of course keep your number and you will get charged for the calls yo make and phone roaming BUT as the phone they send you doesn't reach the www this is all your will be charged for. sailingrose
I just shut my phone off and put it in the safe. You can also put your phone in airplane mode, no calls, no www, nothing. If someone really needs to contact us they will call the cruise line.
