Leaving for a cruise a few days early.

We have gotten in the habit of leaving for our cruises a few days early. esp. if its a long way off like in Europe. iIs nice for several reasons like being sure if there is a missed connection there won't be a missed boat  and seeing your embarkation city as well as allowing for jet lag to resolve a bit. What do you do?

We love being at our "city" at least one full day in advance. Most of the time we are travelling across the country so we have to allow for a total travel day. Plus we're worn out from being on the plane. When we travel to Florida, we always aim for at least 24 hours "in Florida" -- sometimes 2-3 days! Even when we cruise out of California, we allow days.

jacket, we have the same practises as you. if this is a LONG distance destination we make sure that we will be there to catch our connection no matter what. If we are cruising out of Florida we leave home the morning of.
