jacketwatch
I am an RN so i've given thought to doing that on a ship but realistically I would be away from home for too long. Too bad you can't do it PT like for a week or so.

zebra
Absolutely not! I want to enjoy my cruise, not be forced to work!! I have a neice working on the Carnival Miracle now, as we speak. She works in the Spa and absolutely hates it. Too much cattiness between the girls and long, long hours as a masseuse. On sea days, she gets to her cabin in the evenings and her hands, wrists and arms are aching. They also only get a half day off here and there in port .... not enough time to relax. She can't wait for her 9 months to be up. She heads back home to South Africa next month.
gogetter
Just curious Zebra...what made your niece want to do it in the first place? Thanks for the insight!
rogue
There was a time I thought I would like to work on a cruiseship, but then I thought of the word "work". I realized that working on a ship would probably ruin any future cruises. The thing that I love the most about a cruise is the idea that there is absolutely nothing that I have to do. Nothing on a cruise now reminds me of anything about work. That would change if I worked on a ship.
JohnG
When I was in the Navy for 20 years I spent plenty of time at sea. Typically working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, with months of work-ups and then 6 months deployed. I had always thought I'd like to be at sea if I didn't have to work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. And that is why we began cruising 20 years ago, and this is 65 cruises later. So I'd not like to have to work on a cruise ship.
