KeithnRita
We just downloaded our boarding passes for our back to back cruises on the ms Ryndam and were very surprised! We have 2 formal nights and 5 Smart Casual nights on our first cruise (7 days), and no formal nights on the second one! (6 days). All nights are listed as Smart Casual! What do you think about that? Are they trending away from formal nights?
AndiD
That's especially surprising on Holland America who seems to retain more of the old traditions of cruising. Interesting........
ChrisMorgan
wow I hope not we love formal night, its so fun to get dressed up all in our finest. But with that said it is a hassle to bring the additional dress clothes, shoes and accesories. Especially if you have to fly. I think alot of the cruise lines are looking to make cruising more "casual". But personally I always thought casual was an option, Lido deck, as much as being formal, Dining Room option. cruisetarp
I hope not - We really enjoy formal nights.
DebbieandJerry
We've been on 4 and 5 day cruises where we've had a least one formal night. Perhaps this was a typo!! Just because the paperwork doesn't say "formal" ... can't you still dress up??
sailingrose
That's a surprise.....I'd call and double check that one. I sure hope they never do away with formal nights.....
ametrinel
That sounds odd. I've never heard of no formal nights.
