RayColey
Every so often, we arrive at a port that turns out to be much, much better than we had thought it would be. Sometimes we don't know anything about that port beforehand (shame on us!) and sometimes we think we know almost everything about it. Then we arrive and - Zowie! We're knocked over. For example, I had researched Venice before cruising there, but I was bowled over by how beautiful and fascinating it turned out to be. What's your choice for a port that exceeded expectations? RayColey
John, we have Venice penciled in every time we're in the Mediterranean! My ideal cruise would include Venice, Istanbul, Kusadasi, Athens and Dubrovnik. Too bad they don't offer that one!
sailingrose
Venice gets my vote.........the Grand Canal, the sailing in and out........amazing! I do have to admit a calving Glacier in Alaska is a close 2nd.........
AndiD
I'll hopefully be able to chime in on Venice after our 2014 cruise to the Med!
RayColey
I'll hopefully be able to chime in on Venice after our 2014 cruise to the Med! Andi, I'm still working on that one, and Yuki's right with me - as long as she can also get to Florence.

RayColey
That one cruise I found seems perfect - Florence, Rome, Amalfi, Corfu, Dubrovnik, Venice... Really seems to hit some high spots.
sailingrose
That's the cruise we did Ray and thrown in Cannes too. 12 nights. If I get to go again I'll go to Florence. We went to Pisa and Lucca last time.
