Jason
A new report highlights a disturbing finding....Not only did the Concordia previously deviate from its standard route, but at that time it travelled even closer to the shore line....and potentially within sniffing distance of the same rock which carved it's way through the ship's hull on Jan 13. Do you think this is something that Costa should have had more of a handle on?

jacketwatch
so who is monitoring its flight plan so to speak?? If someone is looking at its previous routes they should have seen its deviation and sounded and alarm.
coloradocruisers
I suspect that Captains are given much leeway without alot of monitoring. That is why the cruiselines should be very selective in who they place in command. But somehow, they gave a cruise ship to a man who was incapable of properly commanding anything bigger than a lifeboat.

DebbieandJerry
His "drive bys" were his concern. I was walking in to work this morning thinking "it's a good thing the captain didn't sail so close to the volcano in Hawaii" when we were there times 2!!! Both times the captains slowed down so that we could all go out and see the volcano, etc., etc. and take pictures.
GottaCruz
I heard on the news that an ex friend of the captain , now called Captain Coward, operated his ship like he did his Ferrari, recklessly.
