I had teh same reaction. "I slipped"; "I was pushed". Okay, so he's setting up his defense. Why didn't he return to the ship when he was ordered?

How could he possibly think that excuse would fly? Guess he couldn't come up with a better one. His excuse is laughable. It's the only thing about this tragedy that is laughable.

Today's paper said that "all but 100 passengers" were in lifeboats when he slipped!
