RCI 2014 Mediterranean itineraries have been posted to the website. We're looking closely at this one:

12 night, Serenade of the Seas

We're booked on this one.

Just saw this Jan...will look at the brochure. Kevin...your cruise sounds wonderful...congrats on the booking!

I do want to include Venice on ours since this may be the only chance we get to go...getting older, and it's a very expensive cruise. I'm still a little concerned about the heat in June...wondering if September would be cooler...going to start doing some research now that things are closer. Gonna go and check out the Equinox, too.

I've pretty much narrowed the Med Cruise down to two possibilities - The RCI Serenade on June 1 and the Celebrity Equinox on the 16th (I think these dates are correct). Both clock in at around $2000 per person for a balcony. Both cover the western ports in Italy that everyone was talking about, along with Venice and Dubrovnik. Please check these out and let me know what you think...

Hi Ray...I have been looking at the "Equinox" I didn't see a cruise for the 16th on her, but did see one on the 1st of June, 2014...love that one...very similar to what I was looking at. Also, RCI didn't have one on the 1st, but did on the 16th, so I'm wondering if you got the dates turned around? The RCI one on the 16th sounds nice also, but I prefer Celebrity...I had been looking at Fall of 2014, but will consider the 1st of June if it's Celebrity. I'm mostly concerned about the heat, and the crowds, or long lines for tourist places. The 1st shouldn't really be too bad, though. Also, whatever you and Yuki choose be sure it's what you really want, and the time you really want...this is my dream cruise, but, I deal with auto-immune problems, plus the back thingy, and might book and not be able to make it. I pray a lot, though...smile...and haven't missed a cruise yet, except for when my dear mom had her heart attack.

I really like the Equinox, ship and itinerary, and that's a ship, and ports, that I would love to sail, and see.

Thanks, Larry! I do really want to sail on her at some time, for sure!

Larry...were you ever in Venice in Oct? I heard a lady say that sometimes they are slightly flooded in Oct. At least the two times this lady went there. What was the weather like at the ports you visited in Oct.? Were all the tourist sights open?

We were not in Venice.

All the sites were open and the weather was near perfect. Actually in Santorini It was pretty warm, around 90F by how it felt. I brought a light jacket but did not need it. Our embarkation was Civitavecchia and the ports included Istanbul, Kusadasi, Naples, Mykonos, Santorini and Athens.

Our 1st Med cruise was in the summer, late July, early August and man it was pretty warm. If you can take the heat great and we were OK with it then but that was 2002. Now no way. We also did the holy land in 2011 and that was generally in the same region and included IST, Kusadasi and Athens ans this too was in Oct. and early Nov. and the weather was near perfect except for a cool day in Athens so I had to get a hoodie but it really was fine.
