iPad activation of Solstice class ships

Hello: I was told that to activate an iPad on the equinox I have to go to the internet lounge with the device?? Wow, I would think that all one should have to do is to logon, agree to the wifi contract, pick a package and go, like at a hotel. I am told that Princess does it this way. Its hard to believe that a new ship would not have this feature. Has anyone ever used an ipad on a Solstice ship or any X ship? what is your experience with other lines?

Hi Larry. We’ll be aboard the Solsticized Celebrity Millennium later this month and will have an iPad with us. Since we’ll be in US ports every day we’ll be using an air card with our laptop and we’re hoping not to pay for ship internet – but if we do need to buy an internet package we’ll try it on the iPad and let you know.

Thank you. I have conflicting reports. Some say you MUST go the internet cafe but my X planner said no. In fact she said she activated her iPhone from the pool area recently. Just signed up, picked a package and that was it. I was told that is how its done on Princess so I don't see why X would be any different, esp. on one of their newer ships. We'll see.
