Do you regularly monitor the price of your cruise after you book?

I ask this because I just re-booked my Alaska cruise with the promotion the cruise line was offering for this week's National Cruise Travel Week. I was able to save $$$ and receive an additional upgrade. Most of us here are probably already in the know, but for you new cruisers, just a friendly reminder - don't book and forget! Check those prices regularly - you never know when a price drop will come along.

We do monitor the prices. We recently discovered our Noordam New Year cruise reduced after we made final payment. I notified our TA and she got us each a $195.00 onboard credit. Similar happened last year for our Ryndam B2B New Year cruise, except the reduction was before final payment. Our TA contacted HAL and they reduced our final payment on the 2 cruises by about $400.00.

I monitor almost up to the day before we leave. I only had one instance where the TA would not investigate the lower price because he said I would have to give up my cabin. I bypassed him and called the cruiseline directly and they applied the price difference immediately. I think that particular TA just didn't want to do the work!

For sure have saved $$$$$ by watching. Takes a little time to check (if you check cabins in a higher cat. ) but you can find some nice deals with senior, military or state discounts.

Unfortunately here in the UK, the price you pay at booking is what you pay when you board...often means that those of us who book out a year or so ahead share the ship with those who booked a week or two from departure and there will be a difference of several hundred pounds.

Sometimes it is possible to get a free upgrade, but its rare...and is usually only done within the last 3-4 days prior to departure date. That has only happened to me once, Costa Classica this year when I was upgraded from an inside single cabin to an outside twin.
