More lines to add Alcohol Package

Carnival began trialing its beverage package back in August, and now Norwegian Cruise Line, formerly known as NCL, also is testing the concept. A Norwegian spokesman confirmed the line is testing an alcohol-inclusive drink package on select ships for $49 per person, per day. "The program has just started its trial," she said, adding several ships are testing it at different times. Beyond that, she said, Norwegian wouldn't provide further details.

On Norwegian Sun, the package covered any drink under $10.

MSC also recently rolled out an alcohol-inclusive beverage package; other cruise lines that offer similar packages are Celebrity and Oceania.

I'd be happy if they would do something about improving the coffee. Princess has a coffee card and Royal has a Seattles Best blend standard. Beyond that coffee is pretty mediocre at best.

I love this idea. Carnival made the drink package super easy, but the only downside is that it has to be purchased for everyone in the cabin that is over 21. I wonder if NCL is going to follow the same guideline...

I guess for some folks 49.00 a day for booze is a deal. I don't drink that much. I have seen lots of people who go on cruises and do nothing but drink. Never quite saw the sense in it. But to each their own.

We might have considered this a few years ago – depending on who we were cruising with – but it’s probably not worth it for us anymore. Also, we’ve been on enough cruises that a lot of the cruise lines invite us to events with free drinks many/most nights each sailing. But we certainly have friends who would think this is a fantastic deal!

We don't drink nearly enough to make this worth it for us, but thought it might be helpful for those that like to "party" till they puke. LOL

Bucket of beer along the way $20+ and that is easy.....

We have a friend sailing Celebrity with us in just a couple of days who prepaid about $350 for the week-long all-you-can-drink package. We’ll let you know how she liked it!

350 for the week? Cool, that is probably 2 bottles of wine, right? Still not bad if you throw in a few drinks here and there...

I’m pretty sure you can only get wine by the glass – no bottles, no sharing. Also, she’s got a solo room; if you have a roommate both have to get the package so it’s $700 per cabin (or more – every adult in the room has to get it) for the week. Still could be a good deal though…
