Jason
Expanding on the intense New York theming for its latest ship, Norwegian Cruise Line said its 4,000-passenger Norwegian Breakaway would serve complimentary Sabrett hot dogs, from the same carts as found on the streets of the Big Apple. The cruise line has ordered up three of the carts – with their familiar blue and yellow umbrellas – for Breakaway, which will be homeported year-round in New York beginning in May. The all-beef dogs will come with a choice of Sabrett's classic condiments, including onion in tomato sauce, sauerkraut, mustard and relish, officials said. The carts will be positioned on the Breakaway's extra-wide promenade, The Waterfront, and on the pool deck and forward deck. "As a New Yorker, I've been a fan of Sabrett's. Since we are launching New York's ship, it made complete sense to bring New York's favorite hot dog to Norwegian Breakaway," said Kevin Sheehan, CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line. Guests will be able to wash down the dogs with another local product, Brooklyn Lager, Sheehan added. In its quest to bring a New York experience to sea, the line earlier announced features including seafood restaurants operated by New York chef and Food Network star Geoffrey Zakarian, an ice bar with ice sculptures of New York landmarks and The Rockettes as the ship's godmothers. Breakaway also has an eye-catching depiction of the New York skyline by pop artist Peter Max. The ship, which was named in a USA TODAY reader contest, will cruise from New York's Pier 88 to Florida, the Bahamas, Bermuda and the Caribbean.
