  1. 1. How do you feel about the Slot payouts now going on to your sail and sign card?

    • I love it. Don't have to carry change and it reduces my cabin bill.

    • Not a fan. Don't like having to wait till the end of the cruise for payment.

I know it has been years since the change over from actual payouts at the slots to crediting the winnings back to your cruise card was done, but I wanted to see what fellow cruisers think.

When I first began cruising back in 1990 on the Carnival Celebration, when I had a win at the slots, I LOVED the "clink-Clink-Clink" of the winnings falling into the tray. Now, at least on my last 3 or so cruises, you have to place your sail and sign card into the slot in the machine and any winnings can either be credited back to your cabin account or you can go to the cashier in the casino the last night of the cruise for payment. Prior to those cruises, we had a water jug we used to store all our change to use on the cruise in the slots on the ship. That jug is now filled with nothing but dust. I'm sure the change has something to do with the fact that the casinos onboard are owned by an outside company with some of the proceeds going to the cruise line.

So what do YOU think? Take the poll...........

I know, it's "old school", but I miss the clink, clink and all the noise. Even if there's a win, you hardly hear the cheer!

I actually think the odds of winning have decreased. Jerry loves playing cards when we are on the ship (blackjack or Caribbean Stud). Last cruise he played for one hour and said, nevermind. Their only interest is to take my money.

I was proud of him to walk away, but I know that the casino on the ship is one of the reasons why he likes to cruise.

I am a sore loser. Love playing the slots but feel bad about all the money I flushed down the can. And I never come out ahead! I began playing only in recent years so never experienced the jingling of coins. So the card works fine for me. Only thing is ... the whole credit system makes it way too convenient to overspend a lot!

Pretty much the entire last day on the cruise all of the announcements remind you to "don't forget to cash out". I wonder how many people actually leave without cashing out?

I belive that if you do not cash out your winnings on the last night of the cruise, they are subtracted from your cabin charges.

That's true Jan!!! When you are at the slots, you are always afforded the opportunity to buy credits and have them charged to your cabin when your card is in the machine.

We checked Makes no difference as we no longer donate to the Casinos. Besides, we never had any winnings!

We have never won big either. We just like to refer to it as part of our onboard entertainment. That's we we save up our change months prior to the cruise to use on the slots...at least we used to.

We lived in Las Vegas for 7 years a while back (so shipboard casinos are really kinda “cute” to us) and the slots there went coinless a long time ago. We never play much, but nothing beats that “clink-clink-clink” noise!
