zebra
I know this is the worst nightmare for most of us cruisers - having a cruise ship floundering with no power, water and operating toilet facilities. I know I could not handle this. How would you react if you were onboard the Triumph? All I can say the passengers can be so glad that this wasn't a Transatlantic cruise!!!! Jan115
I could probably handle everything for a few days EXCEPT the lack of flushing toilets. That would be a nightmare. Being without AC would be a bit more easily tolerated if I were in a balcony. Being in an inside cabin without power would find me sleeping out on a deck chair. ShariVCohen
I don't care for Carnival cruise line. I've sailed 3 times on Carnival and probably won't sail on them again. This is another bad mark for them and they may want to reconsider their cruiseline safety. As for my reaction? I would be very angry and very upset. My health and safety in jeopardy and those of the rest of the ship -- crew included. Although they are refunding the cruise amount and giving another free ticket. I wouldn't sail on them again. Poor food, average service, nothing special, just cheap.
Jan115
Just saw the Nightly News with Brian Williams who told us the crew was serving onion sandwiches. Hmmm - onions? On a ship with 5 working toilets for 3,000 passengers? Oh, yeah - that'll help.
GottaCruz
Yeah, Jan, onion sandwiches- unbelievable. So, what about the passengers who are on medications and just took along enough to get them through the cruise- ???
Jan115
Good point, Cheryl. I would hope that the medical center would have an emergency supply of commonly used meds on hand for occasions like this. At least I hope so.
WeCruiseToo
I like to think we’d sit back and get caught up on our reading in a situation like this. Sheri, when you say “Poor food, average service, nothing special, just cheap” do you mean this particular sailing? I’m not sure that’s an accurate description of Carnival for a lot of cruisers… Cheyl, I know a lot of people on maintenance medications and they wouldn’t leave on a week-long trip without two to four weeks (or more) of meds. Here’s to wishing everyone aboard returns home safe and sound.
Sarge6870
As a veteran cruiser, I'm just wondering....The cruise lines are so quick to cancel a cruise if some company charters one of their ships, cancelling a future cruise for people that had booked their cruise on that ship and forcing them to rebook on another vessel. Why can't Carnival cancel one of their own bookings and use one of their own vessels to evacuate these poor folks from the Triumph?? Carnival is a brand name associated with many cruise lines and have a vast assortment of other vessels to choose from. There is, in my humble opinion, no reason they haven't done this!!! Rest assured that there will be MANY law suits regarding this misfortune!!
zebra
Seriously ....... I don't think many people would just sit back and catch up on reading while in these dire circumstances. I for one take a daily heart medication (water pill) that has me visiting the bathroom almost every hour. How would I ever manage on my medication .... just the length of time standing in line for the restroom would have me in a desperate situation - no time for reading here that's for sure!! Shari I agree with you. We have cruised on Carnival twice and never again!! This is the only Carnival Corp. product we do not like ... all the other cruiselines are fabulous. But because they are the cheapest cruise - there will always be a cruise market willing to put up wth sub-standard food and service. I guess you get what you pay for ..... Great point about the medications Cheryl!!! And onion sandwiches ..... Oh I feel so bad for the cruisers onboard. For me a free future cruise wouldn't happen...... sailingrose
I swore off Carnival after my 2nd cruise with them. Both cruises had similar issues, bad service, and overflowing toilets. They sent me a $300 voucher and I sent it back. I have sailed on their other lines and had no problems like that. They need to revamp their maintenance program.
