Do you have an all time favorite cruise excursion? Would you go again?

I'm with Tim on his love of Paradise Beach -- After several visits there, I can't even imagine stopping at Cozumel and not spending the day at PB. Love it!!

But I think my all-time favorite true excursion is the time we spent at the Mayan ruins of Chacchoben when we stopped at Costa Maya. My son & I are both Mayan culture/history buffs anyway, and we both loved this excursion SO much. I booked it through a company called Native Choice, one that people on other cruise boards have talked about for years. The company is run by David and Ivan, natives of Chacchoben, who grew up with the ruins literally as their playground. Their passion for their culture and heritage is infectious, and their knowledge is astounding. I wish we could have spent a week there!

We've been to the ruins in Tulum - twice. I was so impressed with the ruins there that I brought my two youngest girls there later, in 2010, but unfortunately the experience was far different the second time. Crowded, hot, touristy and otherwise far from enjoyable for them - I felt so bad. They love the Mayan history, too, so next time we'll go on a land vacation to see them - to Belize or Costa Maya - where we can immerse ourselves in the culture.

My husbands all time favorite excursion was in St. Lucia where we toured the island and stopped for snorkeling

in between the Pitans. We tried different kinds of food and they offered all the drinks you wanted. The tour

guide was friendly and knowledgeable. This March we will be going back and doing it all over again....cant wait.

I'm so sorry your second experience wasn't as amazing as the first, Jan! But honestly, your second visit was what I have always heard as typical for Tulum. Very interesting, but VERY hot and extremely crowded. They get cruise passengers that dock at Cozumel and passengers that dock at Progresso, and that's just a whole lot of people at once.

I haven't done ruins from Belize yet, but would love to. It sounds like Chacchoben would really interest your girls a lot -- I hope y'all make it to Costa Maya at some point!
