Jason
Scheduled to debut in May, the 141,000-ton vessel is a sister to the nine-month-old Royal Princess — the line's largest ship ever — and will boast similar features including a cantilevered, glass-enclosed walkway over the ocean called the SeaWalk. Regal Princess also will have a deck-top water and light show; private, extra-charge outdoor cabanas; an outdoor batting cage for baseball fans; and a working television studio/performance venue that seats 280 people — all features that made their debut on the Royal Princess. A major milestone in the construction of a cruise ship, sea trials involve days of maneuvers to test propulsion, steering and navigational equipment , and Princess says the Regal Princess passed with flying colors. It's now back at the Fincantieri shipyard near Trieste, Italy, where it has been under construction for more than a year. With sea trials completed, only final finishing work remains before the Regal Princess is delivered to Princess by the shipyard. With its addition, the line will have 18 ships at sea. The Regal Princess will sail six- to 20-night Mediterranean sailings starting at $1,199 per person and seven-night Eastern Caribbean sailings starting at $699 per person.
