NEW! Change in Smoking and Tip Policies for Carnival

Effective October 9, 2014, the following 2 changes will apply for Carnival Cruise Lines, regarding smoking and auto tipping:

Beginning October 9, smoking will no longer be allowed on stateroom balconies.

Also, on sailings beginning October 9, the automatic gratuity will increase from $11.50 to $12.00/per person, per day.

Jerry was not happy about the smoking change. Yes, healthy me lives with a smoker.

From what I have read, NCL and Holland America are the only two ships that permit smoking on the balconies. That will most likely change down the pike as well.

You guessed right ... Starting November 1, no more smoking on NCL balconies.

When I went on my cruise in January of 2013, I was too scared to smoke on the balcony. It was really windy! I always smoked in the designated area on Deck 10. I tried to smoke in the casino, but it was too smoky in there so I just inhaled. LOL

Does anyone know the rules for e-cigs? I realize they're posted on the Carnival website somewhere, but I'd rather talk here. :)

E-cigs follow all the same rules of regular cigs - allowed only in the night clubs, jazz club, casino and designated deck areas. As a non-smoker, I was happy when the day came banning smoking on balconies.
