Sorry I have not posted in quite a while. I just sort of got busy and fell off but enough of the past. I too hope the activity picks up. We were on the Diamond Princess last Sept. out of Japan and had a great time and I will post a TR soon.

In the latest issue of CN Traveler mag guess which cruise line per a readers poll rated # 2 in the large ship category's? Disney was #1 again and right behind was NCL. I do recall some years ago that their ratings were rock bottom so kudos to them for what has to be a planned and well thought out strategy to improve. Now I definitely want to try them.

Larry, thanks for getting some discussion going here. I look forward to reading your Diamond review. I almost booked a great deal on her this summer, but the flights to Tokyo were out of the ballpark at the time.

I'm happy to hear that NCL has moved up to the #2 spot. Thanks to the great reviews of Breakaway and Getaway, especially, they've improved their cruise product immensely. I'm planning a 2-night cruise-to-nowhere in January from NYC and look forward to exploring the ship.

Welcome back Larry! I seem to remember something of a big deal about Diamond Princess returning to Japan. She was built in Nagasaki and her godmother is the wife of the president of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries who built the ship. We’re looking forward to hearing whatever stories you've got!

Actually we were on her sister ship the Sapphire and that too was built in Japan. We cruised her in 2005 to Alaska and she handled like a dream.

 We sailed aboard Sapphire Princess to Alaska in 2005 too – fantastic cruise! Small world, huh?

We went in late August. The day the cruise ended was right around the day Katrina hit N.O.

We were about a month behind you, the very last cruise of the season. Here we are with two of Iditarod Champion Libby Riddles' sled dogs on the dock in Juneau.

Hi Larry...welcome back. I didn't know about NCL's new ratings. That is really interesting since I do remember back a ways when they were getting bad reviews...I have also heard really good things about the "Breakaway" and "Getaway." I'm so glad they are doing well. Looking forward to your review on the "Diamond Princess." My brother will be on the 'Ruby" soon. It's his first cruise...hoping it's a great one.

Michael and Amy...love the picture...what a beautiful couple you make! The dogs are very pretty, and look very well trained.
