In the latest issue of CN Traveler mag guess which cruise line per a readers poll rated # 2 in the large ship category's? Disney was #1 again and right behind was NCL. I do recall some years ago that their ratings were rock bottom so kudos to them for what has to be a planned and well thought out strategy to improve. Now I definitely want to try them.

Regarding Norwegian Cruise Line: They’ve definitely had a plan and have been innovators in many aspects of the cruise industry. Their Freestyle Cruising concept has become much imitated throughout the industry because it’s seen as the best way to attract people who’ve never cruised before. Sailing aboard the newest Norwegian ships is much more like a hotel resort vacation than a traditional cruise (which can be very disappointing to folks who are looking for a traditional cruise). They got a lot right with Norwegian Epic and did even better with Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway. Their older ships are perfectly fine but not near the caliber of these newer ones. The dining options are impressive and the entertainment is fantastic, but it’s important to go in knowing what to expect.
