Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas Emerges with New Enhancements

Royal Caribbean International's Freedom of the Seas is now better than ever and back in business following a 24-day drydock at Grand Bahama Shipyard.

The new and improved cruise ship returned to service over the weekend, embarking on its first regular scheduled itinerary on Feb. 1.

"The newly revitalized Freedom of the Seas will amaze guests with a range of new tantalizing dining options, new staterooms categories, the new retro-chic R Bar lounge, and a bow-to-stern refresh of the entire ship’s furnishings," states the company's press release.

Nearly 70 staterooms have been added to Freedom of the Seas, including a new category of Panoramic Ocean View staterooms. The new cabins "feature a floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall window to offer guests expansive, unobstructed vistas of ports and sea."

Freedom of the Seas sails from Port Canaveral and offers seven-night Caribbean roundtrip itineraries from Central Florida’s Space Coast.

Travelers who purchase an Eastern Caribbean adventure, will enjoy calls at St. Thomas, St. Maarten and CocoCay, Royal Caribbean’s private tropical island in The Bahamas, while the ship's Western Caribbean cruise calls at Falmouth, Jamaica; George Town, Grand Cayman; Cozumel, Mexico and Labadee, Royal Caribbean’s private beach paradise in northern Haiti.

I know that many of you have cruised on her before being refurbished. Can't wait to read about impressions of the ship now that things have been enhanced.

While I like the idea of floor to ceiling windows, I'm not sure if I want outsiders (at port) being able to see inside - can they? I have had Jerry run up to the balcony a couple of times so that I can take a picture. Could barely make him out so I guess I've answered my own question.

I also like the idea of the really big windows, as long as there is a double curtain, with a sheer you can close for semi privacy but still have natural light.
