Jason
As Negan would say, it's gonna be Peepee Pants City here, real soon... The fourth and final sailing of the Walking Dead-inspired Walker Stalker Cruise will sail on February 21-25, 2019. Presented by Walker Stalker Con and Sixthman, the voyage from Tampa to Nassau, Bahamas, will give 2,500 fans of the Walking Dead franchise the chance to cruise with their favorite actors during an immersive fan convention at sea. The celebrities are always a highlight of the cruises, and the 2019 voyage will include names like Norman Reedus (Daryl), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan), Chandler Riggs (Carl), Ross Marquand (Aaron), Tom Payne (Jesus), Cooper Andrews (Jerry), Laurie Holden (Andrea), Michael Traynor (Nicholas) and more to be announced later. Passengers on the Walker Stalker Cruise will be able to experience panels, photo ops, autograph sessions, curated activities, theme nights, costume contests and more featuring the stars of the hit television show. The sailing will take place on Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Pearl, which features 11 onboard bars and lounges, 15 dining experiences, a casino, one outdoor pool, hot tubs and a full menu of spa treatments. As for cost, prices for double occupancy staterooms start at $945 per person, plus taxes and fees. Jan115
As a diehard TWD fan, I could get into this. A day with the cast at a Walker-Stalker Con is fun, but 4 days at sea sounds even more awesome. I’d love to hear from anyone who’s been on a Walking Dead cruise.?? ExpatCruise
I can understand how fans would be interested in this cruise. But it is only a four day cruise and the rate is more than double a normal cruise. How much interaction do you really think you could have with the shows stars? I know they did a cruise in 2018 so I'm sure some people who have been on one of these cruises. Since I have never really been into meeting stars maybe I miss the appeal of this cruise. At least the same interaction that one would get at a Walker-Stalker Con. Trust me, Walking Dead fans will pay - it's a cult following. ExpatCruise
Just now, Jan115 said: At least the same interaction that one would get at a Walker-Stalker Con. Trust me, Walking Dead fans will pay - it's a cult following. Yes I know that the 2018 cruise sold out 2500 fans. The charter has taken the whole ship so every single guest on the ship is a fan. Lets look at this closely 2500 fans 4 days and 4 stars. So about 168 hours lets take 8 hours a day off for sleeping and three hours for meals so 11 hours a day gone. Which brings us down to 124 hours. Now throw a port call in and take off 12 more hours and the stars need some personnel time, even if only 2 hours a day. So we are down to 104 hours, 4 stars and 2500 guests. If every guest wanted interaction with just one star 104 hours 2500 guests 104 x 60 = 6240 or less than 2 1/2 minutes contact. If you wanted all four stars less than 40 seconds. Look at the pictures on the website it is a open mob scene. If you want to hang with other Walking Dead Fans great but very little real interaction with the cast.
Jan115
None of that means anything to a true TWD fan. No fan expects to actually meet and greet a cast member. The Q&A panels with the cast are the most popular events at a Con, as well as the Cosplay (dressing up like the characters), the camaraderie, and the Fandom experience are what attracts. In fact, if it's like a Con, extra fees will be required for a photo op and autograph. Fans will gravitate to whatever event is happening at any cost. I've never been to one, but my now-adult kids have been to many a Comic-Con, Walker-Stalker Con and Anime convention, and while it looks frivolous and silly to most people, it's a very big deal for followers of these events. AndiD
It is all in what you personally think is worth your time and money, which means there is no right or wrong answer and what appeals to one may not appeal to another. And whether or not fans come away satisfied or disappointed will come down to their individual expectations and whether they are realistic or not. I happen to loathe TWD, lol....so needless to say I will not be tempted by this cruise; however.......one of these days I WILL be on one of the Star Wars cruises, I have no doubt, and having the time of my life spending money on related items and experiences, logical or not. No judging here!!
