New Princess ship to be named Enchanted Princess

Princess Cruises has given a name to its fifth Royal Class ship: Enchanted Princess.

Coming in 2020, the ship follows the lineup of the fleet’s newest class of ship that saw Royal Princess in 2013 followed by Regal Princess in 2014 and Majestic Princess in 2017. A fourth ship, Sky Princess, will debut in 2019.

A sixth Royal Class ship has yet to be named, but is due in 2022. The six ships are 143,700 gross tons and can accommodate 3,660 passengers based on double occupancy. Once again, the new ship will be constructed at Fincantieri Monfalcone shipyard.

Farther down the line, Princess Cruises has two ships on order that will use the cleaner liquefied natural gas for fuel. Those two ships will be much larger at 175,000 tons, but won’t sail until 2023 and 2025.

Both Royal Princess and Regal Princess regularly sail out of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale while Majestic Princess sails in Asia and Australia. Sky Princess is slated to come to Fort Lauderdale in December 2014.

Enchanted Princess, meanwhile, is scheduled to debut June 15, 2020 with a series of European voyages with bookings open beginning November 8, 2018. Fall/winter plans for the ship have not been announced.

“The name Enchanted Princess is captivating and conveys the elegance and grace of our new ship which will introduce more travelers to the pleasures and value of cruising,” said Jan Swartz president of Princess Cruises in a press release. “We are certain Enchanted Princess will exceed the expectations of our guests, ensuring they have the most memorable cruise vacation.”

I love this name for Princess!

Me too!!!  Having been on the Royal Princess twice (and Enchanted is the 5th Royal class) - I can honestly say I have never been on such a beautiful ship ...... how exciting!!!

I look forward to trying the Royal Class ships, while in general I do not like bigger ships from what I hear Princess Royal class have the feel of a smaller ship and do not appear to be as crowded as many other lines in this size ship.

Todd, this ship did not feel like a big ship - it is extremely well designed.

The Royal is indeed a beautiful ship; we loved Alfredo's sit-down pizzeria (no extra charge) and of course, the ice cream shop!  The bakery in the lido buffet was also excellent.  Alfredo's was never overly crowded and great for either lunch or dinner.  You get an individual appetizer/soup/salad and then an individual pizza and then dessert, and it was all really good!  I can honestly say that the ship did not feel crowded.  I did miss an aft pool and the balcony was a bit small, but hardly deal-breakers.

Two other things I loved about the Royal.  

1) The dancing color fountains on the pool deck every evening - stunning!!

2) Their "Movies Under The Stars" is perfected.  We were given blankets and pillows on the loungers and then they brought around popcorn, after which we also received hot chocolate and cookies.

Andi, we love Alfredo's as well, delicious pizza.
