Jason
Carnival Cruise Line has completed another makeover of one of its cruise ships, this time the Carnival Freedom. The line just concluded a three-week multimillion-dollar renovation of Freedom, adding a variety of new experiences and updated public spaces. The new additions include WaterWorks, an aqua park featuring a 203-foot-long AquaTunnel slide and Carnival’s 212-foot-long Twister slide along with a 75-gallon PowerDrencher tipping bucket and SplashZone area for kids. The ship’s retail spaces have been expanded, with a new mall-style shopping area lined with retail outlets. A nine-hole miniature golf course has been relocated to Deck 11, while Carnival has also added several new dining concepts, including Bonsai Express and a newly-expanded Deli. These complement existing food experiences including Guy’s Burger Joint, the poolside BlueIguana Tequila Bar, RedFront Rum Bar and the BlueIguana Cantina, among others. The changes are part of a wider $2 billion fleet enhancement program called “Fun 2.0.” Following the dry dock, the ship is resuming its year-round schedule of six- and seven-day Caribbean cruises from Galveston, Texas that stop in Jamaica, Mexico, Belize and Grand Cayman.
